![]() This satisfied one of the requirements for that animal, and therefore made the whole family of elephants happier.Īnother we were told about is "Monkey See Monkey Do", a game that uses the Kinect sensor to track body movements and even facial expressions, these are then repeated by a monkey in the zoo. It came across and was happy to receive a good soaking in order to get clean. In our Gamescom demo, we watched while a Frontier developer squirted water at an elephant in its enclosure. You can actually interact with the animals à la Kinectimals and help their progression by feeding or washing them for example. Plus there are multiple mini-games dotted all around. You will still have to place areas and buildings as before, but rather than do it all from a top-down screen, you can manipulate the surroundings from a more personal perspective. You can run around the zoo yourself, interacting with animals and elements of the zoo in order to get a more hands-on feel of the game. The latter comes in the form of a park keeper that you can opt to control in 3D mode. However, this Zoo Tycoon borrows elements from other big Frontier games of the past, namely Kinectimals and Kinect: Disneyland Adventures. And not just with kids.īest PS5 games 2021: Amazing PlayStation 5 titles to pick up It is intended to be a showcase title for parents to grasp the concept, and from what we saw at Gamescom, we can safely say that it will capture imaginations. So when Microsoft wanted to shift one of its most sustaining franchises to the Xbox One, Frontier had all the nous to make it happen.Īs one of the launch titles for the next-generation console, Zoo Tycoon utilises just about all of the new aspects of the machine that Microsoft is promoting: the new, more sensitive Kinect sensor, the cloud, and the greater level of graphical detail available. The two Xbox 360 Kinectimals games helped put Frontier on the console map. Not only has it plenty of experience with simulation games, having had enormous success with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and subsequent expansion packs in the past, but it is also one of the foremost development studios when it comes to rendered animals. ![]() The game would be very fun if not for these limitations.(Pocket-lint) - Switching the development duties for the new Zoo Tycoon game to Frontier seems to be an inspired move. Due to the lack of customization, adding enhancements becomes tedious and repetitive. Exhibit enhancements can only be placed in a small number of preset locations around the edge of the enclosures, and to keep your animals happy you generally must have one of each type (feeding station, cleansing station, and toy). Enclosures are limited to three sizes: small, medium, and large, and are predefined shapes. Additionally, the extent to which zoos can be customized is disappointing. This is a severe limit on how large the zoo can be and how many animals can be had at one time. The zoo limit does not increase with zoo level, so once you have reached the zoo limit, you can't build anything new without selling something else. I had about a dozen enclosures, each full of animals, two mini-enclosures, and about half a dozen other buildings. In the challenge mode of the game (which restricts what you can build based on cost and income is determined by guest satisfaction), I reached the zoo limit in about 3 hours of play. With every enclosure, animal, concession stand, decoration (and anything else) that you place, the zoo limit fills a bit. This game has a serious flaw: the Zoo Limit. The variety of animals available is good as well. ![]() It is easy and convenient to check on the well-being of your animals and the satisfaction of guests. ![]() ![]() The game does what it set out to do,to create a working zoo tycoon game, which some extras,it isn't as good as zoo tycoon 3 or the others though. Then something amazing happens,as I discover the best part of the game, racing around in the Golf Cart things with friends in the backdrop animals doing their daily routines.Which I spent hours doing. The game falls after that, the overall game play is in one of two categories, either restrictive or just not as good as the original Zoo Tycoons Instead of building the expansive enclosures with your own fences, you're now stuck with set enclosures you place,on top of that there are less buildings, far less animals, with no aquatic animals either or any animals from the past like 3 did. This game looks great,I was completely wowed by how good the world looked.
